Ecologistas protest outside UN meeting

Today in Granada, Spain approximately 120 people, mostly local environmentalists, marched through the streets of Granada Spain to arrive at the United Nations meeting of Working Group Article 8(j) to protest Terminator technology. Inside the Congres Centre, delegates to the UN meeting waited anxiously for the second round of Terminator negotiations to start. Terminator will now be discussed tomorrow.
Activists chanted "No a Terminator, Si a la Vida!" and "Nationes Unidas entiende la vida no se vende" - "The United Nations must understand that Life is not for Sale". There were many banners and signs as activists as representatives from Monsanto and US seed company Delta & Pine Land looked on.
There were a number of official government delegates who came out to visit the protestors and hear their message. Indigenous peoples from Latin America and Asia who were attending the meeting also came and joined the protest. A delegation of 5 people from the protest was invited to meet with the Ahmad Juglaf, Executive Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Spanish Ambassdor Jose Cuenca and Carlos Martinez, Spanish government delegate met with Ecologistas Reme Alonso, Isabel Bermejo, Javier as well as Hope Shand from ETC Group and Alejandro Argumedo from the group ANDES in Peru.
